Soul & Surf
Documenting the faces behind the revival of Soul & Surf, and the renovation of their new site in Portugal. One of the most enjoyable jobs I have had.
Soul and Surf were building something new in Portugal.
I went out to document the people making it happen, rather than just the finished rooms.
It is a cause I care a lot about, so being behind the lens for it was a genuine privilege.
Then I put the camera down and picked up tools.
I am a carpenter by trade as well as a photographer, so standing and watching was never going to happen.
Which turned out to be the best way to shoot it. Once you are part of the crew, nobody performs for the camera.
